Madhya Pradesh,
meaning Central Province, is located in the central part of India. The state
shares its border with the states of Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra,
Gujarat and Rajasthan. It is the 2nd largest state in the country in
terms of area. The capital of Madhya Pradesh is Bhopal and Indore is the

India. It is the 6th largest state in terms of population.

is 80.53% where as the female literacy is 60.02% only. There is a slight
improvement in literacy rate as compared to 2001 when the literacy rate in Madhya
Pradesh was 63.74 %.
