the southern part of Bihar state. The capital of the state of Jharkhand is

The
population of Jharkhand as per the 2011 census is 32,966,238 compared to 26,945,829
in the 2001 census. In this decade the state of Jharkhand has registered a
growth of 22.34% in total population. Jharkhand accounts for 2.72% of the total
population of India. Jharkhand is the 13th most populated state in
the country, but is among one of the smaller states in terms of area.

study of 2011, Jharkhand has a literacy rate of 67.63 %. The male literacy is 78.45
% where as the female literacy is 56.21 %. There is a notable improvement in
literacy rate as compared to 2001 when the literacy rate in Jharkhand was 53.56
%. Also the female literacy rate in 2001 was an appalling 38.87% which has now
improved somewhat.
