Himachal Pradesh is a state in the Northern
India. The
state has 49 towns and cities, of which Naina Devi is the smallest town and
Shimla, its capital is the largest. The official language is Hindi. Locals in
the state also use the Pahari language. The state of Himachal was called ‘Deva
Bhoomi’ meaning the land of the gods.
As per the census carried out by the government of india in 2011 the total population of Himachal Pradesh is 68,56,509 compared to 60,77,900 in the 2001 census. The state has
registered a population growth of 12.81%
over the last decade. It is the 21st most populated state in India. The population of Himachal Pradesh
constitutes 0.57% of the total population of India.
In 2011, the total number of males were 34,73,892 and total number of females were 33,82,617 thus the sex ratio of Himachal Pradesh stood at 974 compared to 970 in the 2001 census.
